Saltic Outdoor Flat is the shoe that will accompany you through the seasons – from forest walks to city streets. A low-cut leather shoe with a waterproof membrane and rubber protection around the entire shoe, handmade in the Czech Republic with 30 years of experience in tough outdoor production.

You don't just need a good-looking shoe. You need a shoe that can handle a morning walk with the dog in the rain, lunch in town, and then an afternoon workout in the woods – without getting your feet wet or having to wonder if the shoe can handle it. The Saltic Outdoor Flat is built for real use, not to look pretty on the shelf. The low-cut fit makes it easy to put on and take off, while the sanded nubuck leather gives it a matte, natural finish that gets nicer over time. The rubber protection that runs around the entire shoe is not just decorative – it absorbs the shock when you step on a rock, protects the leather when you touch a stump, and noticeably extends the life of the shoe. This is the shoe for those of you who move outdoors regularly and need something that lasts.

Saltic sews differently than other brands. They first sewed their famous climbing shoes with a technique they call "ponožka" - ponožka means sock in Czech. Instead of building the shoe from a stiffer frame, the upper is sewn like a soft sock and then the sole is applied. This means that the shoe really molds to your foot, instead of you being forced to mold your foot to the shoe. When you wear the Outdoor Flat for the first time, you immediately notice that it fits differently - not tight or restrictive, but still secure. After a few days of use, the leather has adapted and the shoe feels like it was made for your foot. The light-TEX® membrane on the inside is specially developed for summer and three-season use - it keeps water out but breathes enough to keep your feet from getting damp from the inside. The nice fluffy surface of the inner lining is soft enough that you can actually walk without socks if you want, which is rare in membrane shoes.

When Saltic was developing its barefoot shoes, they took their experience from 30 years of making climbing shoes and applied it to developing a hiking sole. The 3.7 mm ExtasyFix® is the result – a rubber compound that balances grip, durability and ground feel in a way that is unusual in the barefoot world. It is thin enough to let you feel the ground, but durable enough to withstand 2500 kilometers according to Saltic's own tests. On wet asphalt it bites hard, on forest paths you feel where you put your foot, and on slippery surfaces you get feedback instead of just sliding. For those of you who come from regular shoes with thick soles, the ground feel may feel unusual at first, but after a week you will realize that you actually walk more safely when you feel what you are stepping on.

Made entirely in the Czech Republic – from seams to soles – in the same factory in Zlín where Saltic has been making its products since 1989. Each pair is sewn by hand, which can be seen and felt in the details. Once the soles are worn out after thousands of kilometers, you simply send the shoes back to Saltic. They will remove the old soles and apply a new one. The cost is a fraction of what a new pair costs, and you get to keep the uppers that have already formed perfectly to your foot. According to Saltic's calculations, this means that the shoes last on average 3-4 times longer than barefoot shoes from manufacturers that do not offer sole replacement. It's not only financially smart – it's also environmentally friendly and convenient for you who don't have to break in new shoes every other year.

Saltic Outdoor Flat is called "celoroční" in Czech - year-round shoes. This does not mean that they are perfect in all weathers, but that they can handle a wide range of conditions without you having to change. In the spring when it is wet and muddy - the membrane keeps your feet dry. In the summer when it is hot - the shoes breathe enough not to get stuffy, and you can walk without socks. In the autumn with rain and cold, the leather provides wind protection, and in the winter in mild periods or indoors the shoes work just fine as long as it is not really cold. For those of you who do not want to have ten pairs of shoes in the hall, Outdoor Flat is the practical choice that actually covers most of the year. Combine them with thinner or thicker socks depending on the temperature, lubricate the leather properly in autumn and spring and you have a shoe that will last through the months without any hassle.

Skor för riktiga fötter

Classic shoes:

In classic shoes, the toes are squeezed together, the foot is placed in an unnatural position and during long walks we can feel discomfort and a great relief when we get home and have to take off our shoes. Long-term use of such shoes can lead to foot problems such as Hallux valgus and Morton's syndrome.

Barefoot shoes:

In barefoot shoes, there must be enough space for the entire foot to maintain its natural shape. This provides maximum comfort and the toes can be spread out as needed, which increases walking stability. Other important aspects are maximum flexibility and a thin sole that has zero drop.

Why are barefoot shoes good?

Regular shoes are often too tight, which has squeezed your toes together for years. You may develop hallux valgus, which requires surgery, or perhaps a heel spur that takes months to heal.

Tight shoes

Friska fötter

Your toes need their space.

Your toes are probably squeezed into regular shoes like most people. Maybe you have pain in your feet or toes. Most often it is the big toe that takes the most damage. If you walk for too long, you can develop Hallux Valgus which becomes so bad that surgery is required.

With barefoot shoes, you give your toes space and allow your feet to strengthen. Many people experience a dramatic difference in just a couple of weeks.
